The client had been found in a one-bedroom apartment with a loaded handgun, 90 rounds of ammunition, cocaine worth $60,000, over $40,000 in cash, a large amount of marijuana, and various alleged tools of the drug trade.
R.E. – The client was acquitted of repeated armed robberies at an underground casino and various firearm offences after a trial.
R.R. - The client was discharged of attempt murder following a preliminary hearing.
A.B.– The client was acquitted of assaulting an officer, flight from police and refusing to provide a breath sample after a trial.
A.R. – The client was acquitted of assault with a weapon after a trial.
M.D. – The client’s firearm charges were dismissed following a preliminary hearing. All remaining drug trafficking charges were later withdrawn after discussing the matter with the prosecution.

2022
J.D. - The client was acquitted of firearms charges after a Superior Court trial.
J.H. - The client's sexual assault charges were stayed after a pre-trial motion regarding unreasonable delay was successfully argued in the Superior Court of Justice.
P.D. – The client was convicted of the lesser offence of manslaughter (against D.M.) instead of first-degree murder (as against C.C.).
K.H. - The client was discharged of possessing drugs (fentanyl and cocaine) for trafficking after a preliminary hearing.
C.H. - The client's human trafficking charges were stayed following the conclusion of a preliminary hearing. The client’s discharge firearm and firearms possession charges were then withdrawn in the Superior Court. The client received a conditional discharge for simple assault.
C.R. – The client resolved to committing the largest cryptocurrency theft (amounting to $48 million) against a single American victim in United States history. Through ongoing pre-trial discussions, the client avoided adult sentencing. The client received instead a favourable youth disposition.
S.V. - The client was discharged of a robbery count following a preliminary hearing.
A.B. - The client's assault charges were withdrawn following successful negotiations with the Crown during the first day of trial.
J.D. - The client's shooting and firearm related charges were withdrawn after ongoing pre-trial discussions in the lead up to a trial in the Ontario Court of Justice.

Previous cases (2013 to 2018)
M.A. – 2018 – The client was acquitted of a shooting after a trial in the Ontario Court of Justice. Both alleged victims testified and were challenged in cross-examination.
M.F. – 2018 – The client’s drug trafficking related charges were dismissed following a successful “Garofoli” application in the Superior Court of Justice.
M.A. – 2018 – The client was acquitted of impaired by drug driving after a trial in the Ontario Court of Justice.
C.D. – 2018 – The client was acquitted of assaulting two minors after a trial that involved the cross-examination of child complainants.
A.A. – 2017 – The client, A.A., was charged with three counts of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson. It was alleged that A.A. burned down a restaurant for an insurance payout and endangered the lives of others. A.A. had a lengthy trial in the Superior Court of Justice involving numerous pre-trial motions. The trial also involved the cross-examination of numerous police officers, civilians, firefighters and a forensic accounting expert. A.A. was acquitted of all charges.
M.K. & S.A. – 2017 – All evidence against the client, S.A., was excluded after a “Garofoli” application was successfully argued in the Superior Court of Justice. All firearm and drug charges were withdrawn against the client as a result of the pre-trial ruling.
D.V. – 2017 – The client was acquitted of impaired driving and refuse to provide a breath sample after a trial.
A.R. – 2017 – The client’s point firearm and assault charges were withdrawn after a complainant was successfully cross-examined in a trial in the Ontario Court of Justice.
D.F. – 2016 – The client was acquitted by a jury of three different sexual assaults and the administration of a noxious substance for the purpose of committing a sexual assault. The client was nevertheless convicted of the lesser offence of administering a noxious substance simplicitor. At sentencing, the trial judge accepted that the administration of the noxious substance was with an intent to annoy or aggrieve rather than to cause harm.
K.P. – 2016 – The client was discharged of murder after a preliminary hearing. Counsel conducted most of the preliminary hearing, including the cross-examination of numerous witnesses and the successfully opposed a “Leaney” identification application.
D.G. – 2016 – The client’s domestic and criminal harassment charges were withdrawn by the Crown mid-way through cross-examination of the complainant at the preliminary hearing.
T.S. – 2016 - An extensive preliminary hearing was conducted on the charge of murder. (The client was later acquitted of murder, but convicted of the lesser offence of manslaughter.)
R.A. – 2016 – Human trafficking charges were withdrawn against the client midway through the cross-examination of a complainant in a jury trial. As part of mid-trial negotiations, the client resolved to a lesser offence and received a suspended sentence. All other charges were also withdrawn.
J.G. – 2015 – The client was acquitted of a shooting after a trial that involved the cross-examination of a complainant and a police officer that purported to identify the client. In the trial decision, the Court criticized the officer for falsely attempting to buttress the strength of the Crown’s case.
J.B. – 2015 – The client was acquitted of robbery with a firearm after a trial that involved the cross-examination of multiple eyewitnesses, some of whom purported to identify or recognize the client.
R.B. – 2015 – An extensive preliminary inquiry was conducted on the charge of murder. Counsel used the inquiry to lay a foundation for the defence at trial. (The client was later acquitted after a trial conducted by a partner of the same firm.)
J.D. – 2015 - The client was acquitted of uttering death threats to police and possessing cocaine after a trial in the Ontario Court of Justice. The Court excluded evidence on the basis that police had made up the threats as a pretence to search the client.
K.A. - 2014 – The client was acquitted of importing cocaine after a trial in the Superior Court of Justice.
M.A. – 2014 – The client was acquitted of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking after a trial in the Superior Court.
K.M. – 2014 – The client was found not-guilty of domestic assault after a trial.
D.L. - 2013 - The client won a funding application vital for the defence after a contested hearing.
J.G. – 2013 – The client received an absolute discharge after resolving mid-way through a trial on charges of attempted break and enter and the possession of break-in tools. Counsel had brought an application to exclude all evidence.
